Somnos was engaged to support the refurbishment of beds and mattresses across the Wanneroo Community Nursing Home and Jacaranda Lodge. The staged approach, Wanneroo first, followed by Jacaranda on the strength of that outcome, reflected Elderbloom’s preference for a supplier they could trust to deliver before committing across multiple sites.
Impulse 400 beds in king single configuration were supplied across both facilities, providing the care team with full electric adjustability – backrest, knee break, hi-lo height range, and pre-set hoist and transfer positions, in a clean, low-profile frame that suits a home-like care environment. Three mattress types were specified to match the clinical profile of individual residents. The Aria+ Hybrid mattress was selected for residents requiring flexible pressure care, operating in static hybrid mode without a pump and upgradeable to active alternating pressure as needs change.
The ProCair Plus by Novis was supplied for residents at very high risk of pressure injury, delivering fully automated alternating pressure therapy with AutoCair weight-sensing, HeelCair independent heel zone off-loading, SafetyCell cell-in-cell construction, and a five-hour backup battery for uninterrupted therapy. The Viscorelax multi-zone foam mattress with integrated evacuation cover was specified for standard pressure care needs, providing reliable redistribution through multi-zone profiling, a viscoelastic comfort layer, and ultra-soft heel zone, with the Sanitized antimicrobial PU cover meeting infection control requirements across both sites.
Accessories supplied across both facilities included overbed tables and bedside tables to support daily resident use, mobilising hand rails fitted to beds to assist with safe transfers and resident independence, and wall bumpers installed to protect room finishes and reduce impact risk during bed movement.
